The Church of St Peter Mancroft has a strong choral tradition. There are currently five choirs run by the Director of Music, Jody James, which provide the music for the regular Sunday services as well as singing for festal services and concerts.
The Choral Scholars – A mixed voice ensemble which sings on most Sundays during term time as well as for the major Christian festivals. Up to 12 Choral Scholarships are offered to the value of £500 per annum to men and women aged 25 and under. In recent years the majority of Scholars have been students at the University of East Anglia (UEA) & Norwich University of the Arts (NUA).
The Girls’ Choir – A choir for young women aged between 15 and 25. It rehearses weekly and sings a service once a fortnight during term time, performing a wide repertoire to a high standard.
The Choristers – For girls and boys (7+). The choristers sing for one of the Sunday services every week during term time and for special services such as Easter and Christmas. Choristers have the opportunity to work for medals as set out by the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM).
St Peter’s Singers – A mixed adult choir for keen singers to use their voices to enhance the worship of God at St Peter Mancroft.
Mancroft Minors – A singing club for girls and boys aged five to seven. The Mancroft minors meet weekly and join with the Choristers for a Sunday service, usually a few times each half-term.
