There are currently vacancies for alto (male or female), tenor, and bass choral scholarships at St Peter Mancroft.

These scholarships, which pay £1,000 per annum and are tenable for up to three years, are a perfect opportunity for musicians aged 16-25 to develop their singing skills, receive vocal tuition, and perform a wide range of repertoire in a superb setting.

The choral scholars act as the 'back row' for the choristers and girls' choir groups; sing separately for services and rehearsals; and provide support for their voice parts in rehearsals and services sung by the St Peter's Singers. Choral scholars sing mainly during academic term-time, but with additional commitments at Christmas and Easter.

According to aptitude and interest, choral scholars also have the option to be involved in:

  • Supporting the organisation, administration, and event management for the annual series of Mancroft Music lunchtime concerts.
  • Organising and maintaining the extensive choir library (for which an additional fee is paid)
  • Assisting with chorister training in music theory and the RSCM's Voice for Life scheme
  • Choir training/rehearsal/conducting
  • Other activities taking place in and around the church community

Further details about the scholarships are available here. Applications for scholarships are welcomed at any time, and there is currently no closing date for applications.
